Boeing Boosts F-15EX Production: 90 Fighter Jets Now in the Pipeline

Boeing is ramping up production of its F-15EX Eagle II fighter jet, with 90 aircraft currently in the pipeline, marking a major step in strengthening the U.S. Air Force’s air combat capability. This move is part of a broader modernization strategy aimed at maintaining air superiority amid rising global threats.
The aerospace giant is targeting a steady delivery pace of two jets per month by the end of 2026, significantly boosting its manufacturing capacity to meet increasing demand.
This production surge follows notable gains in factory efficiency and quality control. Boeing reports consistent reductions in rework and unplanned manufacturing adjustments—known in the industry as “traveled work”—as a result of recent operational upgrades.

“Factory performance has been improving in recent months, with rework and traveled work rates decreasing month over month, enhancing workflow productivity and supporting factory stabilization,”
— Tom Altamuro, Director of F-15 Manufacturing and Safety at Boeing
Central to this improvement is Boeing’s internal initiative, “Cut the CoRRS” (Cost of Rework and Repetitive Scrap), which includes a daily “Quality Power Hour”. During this focused session, teams proactively address quality issues in real time, helping to eliminate delays and minimize defects before they escalate.
A Critical Asset in the U.S. Air Force Arsenal
The F-15EX Eagle II is designed to complement fifth-generation platforms such as the F-35 Lightning II and upgraded F-22 Raptors. It features modern digital avionics, an open mission systems architecture, and is capable of carrying up to 12 AIM-120 AMRAAMs, with future integration planned for hypersonic weapons and other next-generation munitions.
With its twin-engine configuration, long-range mission endurance, and a digital backbone for rapid software updates, the F-15EX offers a powerful, cost-effective solution for current and future air combat missions.
“The F-15EX is built to deliver combat capability now, with room to grow as mission demands evolve,”

A Strategic Response to Global Threats
The U.S. Air Force has already received initial units and is actively integrating the F-15EX into its operational structure. Defense officials point to rising challenges posed by China and other near-peer competitors as justification for bolstering America’s fighter fleet with versatile, combat-ready aircraft like the F-15EX.
By increasing production and streamlining its assembly processes, Boeing aims to ensure the F-15EX remains a reliable pillar of U.S. airpower well into the next decade.
